Tears can no longer be formed, our eyes have run dry,
Hands of time will not stop, won’t take a moment to wait.
Words need to be spoken, mouths move lips too late.
You must look to falsehoods, once thought true is a lie,
Why turn away? Can’t you look me in the eye?
I’ve been on the fence, but it’s time I found the gate,
Your face is full of pain; is it love, loss, or hate?
Why can’t this all be skipped, just move on and say goodbye.
Looking up, looking down, nay, looking forward is best,
The path stretches before me, the horizon is bright.
Maybe now that you’re gone, my heart can have rest,
Eyes of sorrow no more, but eyes filled with light.
Images on a card, filed away in my mind,
I pray and hope one day, true love you will find.
