Another Night - Kelsey Berrier

It’s another night

Just passing by

In another place

Just another time

It’s what I tell myself

Just another life

Because you’ve been gone

Since you were mine.

And it’s another day

Just passing through

Just another way

To see the truth

Am I to blame?

Just let it loose

Because it’s my aim

To see into you.

And so should we call it

The end or the start

When those words burnt a hole

In my pocket and heart

A message delivered

A person left splintered

Will your love rejoin mine

In our own work of art?

It’s another tear in the silence

Another wish in the dark

Wondering then when you touched me

Did it leave any mark?

And if you got closer

Could you see all my scars?

Because we’ve gotten rid of some distance

But we’re still way too far.

It’s another forced goodbye

And I’m down on my knees

You say this is best

While I’m begging you please

You know if you ask

I’ll be whatever you need

But how can I be better

When you’re my disease.

And do you know when I’m falling

That I’m falling for you

And I’m sinking in thoughts

That I wish were still true

A dream in the night

A phrase that sounds right

Do you think you can love

As much as I do?

It’s another night

Just passing by

In another place

Just another time

It’s what I tell myself

Just another lie

Because you’re already gone

And you’ll never be mine.
