A top hat
wearing a man
strode in; tap, tap, tapping
his watch-
the hands spun at an
incredulous rate,
the sound of an army
of toy solders
all being wound.
And at the sound
of such a catchy tune,
the bartender
joined in: tap, tap, tapping
his foot-
the tender’s jolly, red face
bobbed,
his long, white beard danced,
encouraging the beat
from all.
And all returned!
clapping filled the room.
The man with an upside down
pipe, and a matching frown
was even seduced
by the winding
of the solders.
He jumped from his seat,
slapped his knees,
and raised his mug
up, through the air!
A ruckus “huzzah!” rang
loud.
And in the commotion,
the hat left-
taking the man
and his watch
along.
