I suppose you notice me staring - Mary Beth Mitchell

I assemble at ease on the piano bench

Allowing the piece to pour from my fingertips

Feeling the tenderness of your smile on my back

You draw closer behind me

And slip your hands around my waist

To slide me over and give it a try

As the melody flows from my fingers to yours

I marvel at your ability

And gaze at your gleaming face

I suppose you notice me staring

You turn and kiss my lips

In a way I’ve never experienced

Your tongue knots with mine

And I can’t help but smile

As the metal in your mouth grazes my lip

My breathing steadily quickens

As I sense the heat of your body

Burning into mine

We gradually move in synchronization

And lift ourselves from the seat

As we glide over to the bed

And slowly maneuver into a comfortable position

Your hand seems to locate my thigh

And is quickly acquainted enough to flutter up my skirt

I attempt to be a tease

But it somehow gets inverted

And as I draw back just slightly out of reach

You catch me by surprise

And utter those words I’ve been longing to hear

They trickle slowly off your tongue

And the beauty of it fills the room

It absorbs my thoughts sufficiently enough

To soar into another long and desirable kiss

As I realize you wait for a reply

I look back at you and whisper

“Oh sorry, I love you too”

  1. wow not only was this a poem but it was a story this was beautiful and amazing.

you sound like you truely enjoy writing and should think about continuing this and even furthering it as a career choice and perhaps become an author.

    thank you for your talent
