A Lie - Marissa Gimble

She cannot verbalize her constant thought

Lying to herself and to those around

Heart beating loud, she cannot take the sound

Trying so hard to come up with a plot

Sneaking around while pretending she’s not

Refusing to believe the challenge she found

Feeling her heart as it continues to pound

The devil says to do it; the angel tells her not

Looking at her options, it starts to unfold

She can’t control her actions, the way he makes her feel

She can be with the new guy or stay with the old

So unexpected, life doesn’t seem real

She has to escape what feels like a dream

She’ll never ever do it- not to that extreme
