A Drop of Water - Matthew Lunsford

A drop of water falling in a pond
Might make a slight ripple, but in an instant is gone.
And yes, the drop may float up into the sky
Just to fall again, make a ripple, and die.

Conformed to the pattern of so many drops
To form a peaceful body with a smooth, glassy top.
For the ripple that once changed the surface
Is gone in an instant; what is its purpose?

Nothing,
Just to float along until the pond
Dries up, and all the drops are gone.

Why do we fall
When we can fly?

As this never-ending love obliterates my own well being, I am forever lonesome.
You are all that I am:
forever and always, your hand in mine.
Sometimes, I feel as if words cannot describe you.
The only thing on my mind every second, every minute, ever hour, is you.
I tried so long to pretend I didn't care for you,
My heart ebullient for those eyes of yours that pierce my brain.
The effervescence of my emotions scramble when I'm around you.
I've endured this feeling so long, it obliterates my skin:
all that I am.
Everything disappears when you get close.
My stomach churns when I see your beauty.
Your face never fades, no matter how close I get to you.
I will always remember you.
